I've run a lot of tires on this bike over 36,000 miles, for the money the 244's are fine, but...I find I get much better traction and about the same or better tire life from the more expensive D606.
I ride everything from mud and sand to rock gardens and rock slabs, and most all of that on a grade, I find the 606 is superior (IMHO) in those conditions. Better enough that I don't buy the cheap tires anymore.
I'm not saying the 606 is the tire, just that you get what you pay for. I've found paying more "ups" my ride satisfaction level, at least in this case.
The frequency of mud around here has kept me from mounting the trials tire I have, but I will, if it's a dry summer.
And most any knobby will squirm when pushed hard on the road when new, they probably always do, but you get used to it, at least I did/do.
For example, the 606 front makes a scary oscillation when pushed over real hard at speed...it's the gaps between ***** that does it, you feel the catch of the **** followed by a "search" for the next.
I just put weight on the wheel to stop or slow the oscillation, either by moving forward on the seat and/or braking the front wheel and accelerating at the same time...it is scary situation and could lead to a tank slapper for the uninitiated.

Thank you! 36,000 wow That's awesome you can get out there that much. The 606's sure do look good. The smaller ***** on the 244's and 270's are a concern. What size 606 do you run?

Thanks

I've been running the 120/90-18, that's all I can usually get. If I could get a 110 I'd run that.
There's only one front, as far as I've seen.
And yeah, I ride a lot. At least 300 days a year, for the last 3 years. My KLX is way more reliable and fun than my 4 wheeled vehicles and has cut my gas cost by $200/month(which is the real reason I ride, other than I love it).
