I am not having any luck finding a (non OEM) replacement shifter... Anyone found one that fits well?

thanks

You can give Hammerhead a shot at www.hammerheaddesignsinc.com. I think the only foot shift lever they sell that might fit is for the KXF250.

I think that IMS makes one for the klx300 which should fit our bikes. Cross the part # for our bike and see what else it fits and go from there.

Just tried crossing the number. The shifter is unique to the KLX250S. Not sure why it doesn't cross to the KLX300 though.

Maybe someone with more experienceon both bikes can shed some light on the subject.

I would say that the 300 would probably fit. The 300 probably has a more aggessive nub on the end vs. the 250s or something of the like. They assume that people riding the 300 will always have boots on while people riding the 250s will sometimes be wearing street shoes and they don't want them damaged. But like Dean said someone with both bikes could maybe measure and do a spline count and see if they are the same. I know I would be interested in seeing if the 300 would indeed fit because it seems like the stock lever could easily be damaged off road.

hmm.. no first hand accounts
I may have to order something and cross my fingers.. I have heard the stock KLX300 shifter won't fit the 250, but I'm not sure how close they are.. (maybe an aftermarket lever for the 300 could fit?)
that stock lever sucks in tight single track..

Anyone have any updates on aftermarket shift levers? I'm curious if the IMS one for the KLX300 will work or not.

+1000 on wanting to know. That thing is awful. It's all the way in front of the peg, I'd like something a bit more tucked away. After riding those other 250's this weekend I realized it wasn't me, it was the lever.
