Did you pay 100$ to really loose 5lbs? Take less water, it weighs 8lbs a gallon..... I just bought a new battery for 44$ Seems kinda silly to me.

Kevin Cameron, not sure of my spelling there once wrote than on an average bike 10lbs. is roughly equal to one horsepower, with the weight drop from this battery you can now understand why it might be worth the price if your goal is to go fast.

If thats true, you definitely bought the wrong bike.

Like when i went to buy new tires for my mountain bike, there was a 50$ tire and the same tire but was 32. The 50$ one had a kevlar bead, and the 32$ one had a wire bead, the wire bead was like 30 GRAMS heavier... I laughed, gimme the wire bead , cheaper, one.

Well I will agree this bike needs all the help it can get but that being said if you compare the price of a regular battery to one of the lith ions the difference is 30-40 bucks so that make it a nearly 1 hp benifit for 40 bucks which puts it on par with the other changes I've made to help this limp wristed thing as much as possible. When I need a replacment battery it will be one of the lighter ones.

Weight actually bolted to the bike is more critical than weight on the rider...whether it's his poop or the meatball sub in his hydration pack. If you had a bike and rider weight of about 500 pounds where the bike was 300 and the rider was 200, it would handle better...generally...than a situation where the bike was 350 pounds and the rider was 150. Obviously I have to say generally because the ability of the rider and other factors will come into play in the real world...but...if you could equalize all other factors in a perfect hypothetical scenario, the lighter bike scenario will be better. A rider is able to move. He can position his weight in a more beneficial way to influence handling positively if he's doing it right. Things on the bike are fixed, and you're stuck with dealing with it...like a battery that is positioned fairly high on our KLX. I probably won't be running out to buy one of these batteries, but the lighter battery and the place it's located on our KLX can definitely make a difference. Then when you add it up with other weight saving measures...like the OEM exhaust...handling can improve noticeably. You have to start and end somewhere on knocking off weight on our bikes, and the battery is a decent item to consider.

I put in one of the new, lightweight Lithium batteries because I don't need a battery tender with it.

Here is teh Evo on ebay $93 to your door

Ballistic Lithium EVO2 4cells Battery 135 CCA only 2LB | eBay

Looking at the Shorai. Charging them with a battery tender brand should be OK, There is an issue with some chargers doing Li-ion, cannot remember what, but its on the shorai site explaining it.

Ever since I put the 351 kit in I have had trouble with starting. Seems like it sucks the life out of the battery. Might have to look into the evo.
