Default Sealing grease

How many of you use sealing grease for your air filter. I guess it is probably better to use it but what do you think about that?

My UNI filter calls for sealing grease, I just oil the face of it a little heavier than the rest. 7500 miles and still going strong.

I use a very thin coating of general purpose grease on the rubber mating surfaces of the K&N air filter.

I used to put waterproof grease on the lips of my filters but dont anymore, just lazyI guess & makes cleaning harder. On bikes like the KLX that have a solid basket to pin the filter against the airbox I have noticed no ill effect from not using it. There are some quads out there that I still use grease on though because they have a crappy filter to airbox seal (Yamaha I am talking to you about the Grizzly, Wolverine, Warrior etc.)

If you are bothering with grease you might as well do around the sealing bolt in the middle of the filter also.

Yes he is talking about greasing the filter. Its common to apply grease to the filter lip (& center hole).

Filter oils commonly come with a companion product called "rim grease"... (lol )
Yeah, I usually do use it, but I think you're right KLXer... With the filter basket pinning the edge of the foam down, it's really not necessary.
