i'm having a hard time trying to decide between buying this seat or getting my seat redone locally.... cheaper locally but i wouldn't be able to ride for about a week.

i'm going to be picking up the new IMS tank once it's available so i wouldn't mind saving a bit on the seat as well.

Got my e-mail notification from them, but it's too late on a Friday night to get in touch. Why do companies do this to us?

Because the real release date is Monday the 11th. They just want you to know the info and have it fester for the weekend.

Both have strong arguments.

Good vinyl is very low maintenance.

But would you buy a vinyl jacket or shoes?

The wider seat pan with the Sargent is reason enough to go with it, unless you can get one redone for much, much less.

I hope you guys like the seat. I'm sure it'll be a huge improvement over stock, but I got a Sargent seat for my DR650 and it was off the bike and for sale an hour later. I went back to the Bill Mayer Saddle seat that came with the bike. That thing is awesome.

It was so awesome that I had one made for my KLX. VERY comfy, the vinyl looks just like leather, but without the maintenance nightmare. A bit more money, but worth it. If you're local to the factory in Ojai, California (like I am), you can ride in for your appt and they do it while you wait and watch.

Why didn't you send the Sargent seat back to them for a refund?
How much is the Bill Mayer? And do they use the stock seat pan?

I ordered the new seat before I went into work this morning. Because I am having a red welt added, it is expected to ship out Wednesday or Thursday. It should arrive the middle of next week. Then I will just have to wait for IMS to get the new tank done.
