rpm with 13 tooth
Can anyone tell me what there stock bike runs at 65mph with a 13 tooth sprocket??? I mean what rpm the tach says with stock gearing mine seems to be just under 6500rpm at 55 mph I'm at 5500 rpm .
Thanks for any info on this

Hey bad bear - I don't actually have a 13 tooth installed but I get the same RPM as you mentioned from stock gearing, i.e., basically it seems to be about 10,000 RPM for every 10 MPH in 6th. Based on the difference in gear ratios, I calculate that for 65MPH, a 13/42 endowed final drive should be running just a hair under 7,000 RPM at 6,994 RPM, or about 500 RPM more at that speed.
I _did_ have a 49/14 ratio installed at one poine and that is just about twice the change in gear ratio from 42/13 as compared to stock and it was about 1000 RPM more at 65 MPH, so the above estimate does bear out (no pun with your nick intended
).
Hopefully someone with an actual 13/42 installed can confirm - just be sure and measure actual speed, which is not necessarily the stock speedometer reading as that is off by as much as 10% or more. A GPS receiver can be a good method to verify your stock speedo's accuracy.

stock was 60mph at 6000rpm in 6th gear (easy to remember as deej said above) with the 13t its now around 6500-6700rpm in 6th gear at 60 mph. figure about 500-700rpm more than what stock is to run the same speed... small price to pay to actually use 6th gear on more than downhills

That is funny. That pretty much matches 5th gear stock.

I still have a 13T sitting in my garage. I have not installed it yet.
I will be putting on my 13 tooth sprocket today. I've had the sprocket for quite some time but wasn't sure whether I wanted to use it. With the gain in performance reported from so many I think I am going to try the 13 tooth on the bike. I really don't ride the bike on the highway, more secondary highways with speeds 80-90km. Out of the 1000km on my bike 700km of that is off-road. I think I will benefit from the 13 tooth more, since I ride off-road way more than I do on-road.
It would be nice to have some more low end pull. Especially in 1st when I'm on really rough old logging roads and when I'm trail blasting. Hopefully less clutch work.
I recently added the Uni air filter to my bike. Didn't really noticed much gain in power. I had to adjust the pilot screw out more. It seems I increased my high end power with the filter. Now I would like to improved that low end pull.
I'll report what I notice after I put the sprocket in.
