Default Rode for the first time on the road!

The KLX is my first bike and I got the chance to take it on the streets today (it was about 40 degrees out). I would say I did pretty well with handling traffic for a newbie and I got plenty of looks from people, must have been because I was the only bike on the road, let alone it being lime green haha. Can't wait till the weather gets even warmer so I can hit the trails.

Awesome man, that is great news. Just be careful out there and remember to always know who's behind you and don't forget the left turn head check. I use it every time.

If you get a chance I would take a class with the MSF. There is a lot of good information about road riding to be learned. I have taken both the beginner class and the experienced rider class. Good stuff, next I will be taking the dirt class.

I might have to to do that. I actually go to the college where they have the MSF training course here in Rochester. My friend took it and suggested I do the same. Only thing I don't like about it is that it costs $275. That could buy me a pumper carb!

+1 on the msf class. very helpful. the klx is my first bike as well. I rode on the street for about a month before I took the class and it is worth it. the last thing i wanted to do was ruin many more fun times with this bike by not taking necessary safety precautions.

The pumper carb won't do any good if you don't know how to avoid getting run over.

roflmao....nuthin like taking riding in traffic advice from a someone who lives in a one streetlight town.

left turn head check....ya better have more than that, if ya want to live.

I ride in S. Florida traffic....its just plain nutz, no msf course can prepare you for........ if you are even considering taking it, don't ride on the street, learn to ride in dirt and get GOOD at it, and I mean REAL GOOD. You should be able to slide around on asphalt or do an emergency stoppie without even raising the hairs on your neck.

Be careful, have fun, slow down near any animal and really watch out for people doing a left hand turn in front of you ..... and always watch your rear, especially when stopped.....oh and kicking a car that is merging into your lane perfectly acceptable.
