Default How Well Does The WIndshield Work

I keep my bike in an area that has lots of gravel roads in wooded areas - I am never on the highway or over about 45 mph but thought a windshield might make the ride a bit more comfortable since I have an old neck injury. The more I have to brace my head against the wind the more it hurts

Question: I am 6'3" tall and the windshields are relatively short - will they just direct the air up into your face or do they really protect your whole upper body.

Last year I sat on a brand new Honda road bike with one of those adjustable on the go electric windows. That is the only way to guarantee that you won't get wind whip or whatever its called when the wind goes over the windshield and hits you in the wrong spot. I made a windshield for my bike out of a piece of tinted Lexan, and while it worked I always felt like it needed to be 2-4 inches taller. I hear what your saying about the wind pushing you, at 60 mph indicated, sometimes I feel like my hands are trying to be ripped off the bars. Anyway, I don't really think I answered anything of value here, but here are a couple of pictures of my design.

Nice work there Deej. Looks factory. I always enjoy seeing things that somebody took their time to make right, and did it with their own two hands.

Deej

Do you keep this on while off road. It is on the smaller side - how much wind does it block

Actually I need to re-do the mounting of the window. On the second trip out on the highway it snapped the thing where it goes behind the light shroud. I might mess with it some more and see if there is another to attach it.

I am 6'1" and I have the TCI windshield and it makes a huge diff! You will experience some wind buffeting around your helmet(states this in the instructions with helmets with large windscreens) but the ride is completly diff. Much more comfortable especially in colder temps. I have a Fulmer helmet with built in windshield. I'm glad I got mine and am getting ready to order the rack that attaches to the windshield brackets so when it's real hot, I can get more air and have a place for several bottles of water.
