Default Replacement switchgear?

What switch gear do people upgrade to when the factory stuff is shot? The sun has taken a toll on mine, and since I ground off the nibs for the Pro-Taper bars, it's really hard to keep the cheap plastic factory ones from turning on me. THANKS!

I hear Baja-Designs has some good hardy kit.

I put a turn or 2 of electrical tape on the bars just a tad wider than the switch gear.
They bite down nicely into the tape and don't come loose or rotate easily.

I was thinking about a turn or two of an old bicycle tube for the plastic to bite into but, the sun damage to the plastic is causing me some grief. I'm a little worried that biting into some tape or rubber is going cause the brittle plastic sides to fail.
