Default Removing California Smog

I found the thread on removing smog... but I haven't seen anything specific to the removal of all the California smog crap.

There are three hoses coming out of the bottom of my gas tank. One appears to be a regular vent. The other two go to what I think is the KCAS check valve. From there, lots of hoses go all around... two go into a Tee in the carb, a couple go to the charcoal canister, and then there's the crankcase line that goes to the airbox.

I'm wondering, do I need to put nipples on the lines out of the gas tank? I know I need to plug the line on the carb, and I know to put a breather on the crankcase at the top of some hose. And I think I seal off the line into the airbox.

What else am I missing? I want to make a list and hit the auto parts store today and get this stuff done.

Thanks!

Rob

Nevermind. I thought it out and just plugged everything and it seems to be working. I also wired up an accessory relay while I was at it, and a 12v power outlet. I'm also ready for when I get my heated grips.

Does it ride any different after removing everything? More power?

No, it just feels better knowing that garbage isn't on there anymore.

BTW one of the two lines on the tank that I plugged needed to be vented. Discovered that a couple miles from the house when the bike quit. I opened the gas cap and it fired right up, so I knew. Got home, pulled off one plug, nothing. Pulled off the other, and it made a gasping noise. I knew that was the one. Reinstalled the first plug and put a hose on the other one. This won't be a problem once I get an IMS or Acerbis tank.

I think that removing California smog is a great idea.

Just don't send it east to Arizona.

Why not send to AZ? I just did all the smog removal mods plus dynojet plus fmf pipe to my CA model in AZ. Is there something i need to be aware of?

Ranger Ron was making a funny. He does not want the smog that is, for instance, around LA to blow over to AZ.
Dan ,,,,,we don't want it in IL either

The perks for smog removal are a cleaned up engine area and cooler exhaust temps but not a performance improvment.

I have no idea how it happened, but as I was taking my engine apart to do the 351, I noticed the air injection system. After putting it back together I looked closely and it just wasn't there.

Tampering with emissions equipment is breaking a federal law and carries up to a $2500 fine. But unless you're in an area that does inspections and forget to put it back before you go, you're unlikely to get popped.
