Rebuilt my bike, from the frame up!
The widest you can go is 150/70 on the rear, and 4.50 on the rim. Any wider, you rub the chain and getting it on is a royal pain.
I did mine in the street in front of my house for the dis-assembly and re-assembly, on my porch for the cleaning and painting. The wife was none too happy to see my bike scattered all over the porch. It sucked carrying the engine up the stairs into my yard, but it was worth it.

4.25 is plenty believe me. The bike handles like a champ with it.
