Default Rear turn signals

I need some recommendations for decent rear turn signals. Right now, I have a cheap LED set that I keep kicking the lens off of when I get off of the bike... I'm all for cheap, but these are cheap/junky, not cheap/awesome. They were on the bike when I bought it used, so I don't have the OEM signals to throw on even if I wanted to.
I really appreciate all of your help with this, because I'm not sure how many more times I'll be able to superglue the lens back on!!
Thanks in advance!!

Oh, and in case you need to know, I have a '07 klx.

Definitely a good find on the part of Matt. I have 4 on their way.

I'll mount the front in the hand guards like Matt, but I'm not sold on the fender mounted rear. It may not have enough spread to show drivers your intent to turn. I may mount them on a flexible plastic plate bolted on the license plate mount or maybe something on the lower rear edge of the side covers. But I will wait to see how Matt's rear signals light up if he posts a video.

If you are dead set on having regular style signals go to a Harley dealer that will order Buell Ulysses rear turn signals at $15.99 each last time I bought. They are more flexible than anything I've seen out there. I put them on both my KLX650 dual sport and my 550 Zephyr street bike. They just look good too. Similar shape and size as the 09 and up signals.

Here they are

They literally bolted on perfect with locating pins that matched those on both my 650 and 550. I did cut and solder on the ends of my old signals and had to put an electronic relay from a car parts store.

But if you're off roading, definitely Matt's signals are the trick... the reason they're going on the 250.

The rear set should be here next week. Hey Mark, do you have an edge tail light kit? You could fab up turn signal mounts out of aluminum and mount them so they face rearward. In the even of a fall, the rear fairings would hit before the signals

Thanks for the replies, Matt & klx678.

Matt, I did read your DIY about the front turn signals and I have to agree that they are pretty sweet. Maybe I'll wait to see what you do with the rear ones. Maybe that will give me some ideas. I have to admit that I'm not the most handy at fabricating stuff like this, so I might be forced into a pre-manufactured set...

klx, I'll definitely check out the ones from the Harley dealer. I have a dealership near me that I'm pretty sure can order these if I need. They look durable enough to take all of the abuse and kicks from my stupid feet . I'm not all that worried about the bike looking sleek and neat, since I have a big, ugly acerbis tank on it. There's not too much that you can do to hide that thing!!

Don't worry about fabrication, it was just drilling two holes. What you don't see is the projects that end up looking like **** haha, we've all made mistakes and ruined things trying to fabricate. The more you try the more success you will have. This is the first time I've fabbed something up (on my bike) that has had any success at being helpful to other members. Start small and soon you'll be in the catagory of those guys who make skidplates, mounts, custom dashes, etc. or, like Mark (klx678) who makes cam chain tensioners and smog block off plates!

I have a cycle rack and found it protects the rear signals. If they ever puke I might try the rock a bill version.

I bought and recommend the baja designs flush mount blinkers on the fender. They kind of looks like cab lights on the roof of a pickup. There is a nice protected spot on the colored rear fender of the 2009+ bikes for them. Real off roading and rear blinkers on stalks don't go together.

The rear signals I installed last summer are still going strong and have survived plenty of impacts including an endo that tweeked the rear subframe and snapped my collarbone. They are quite bright when viewed from the rear and I used the shorter flex stalks that were originally on the rear and transferred them to the front signals to tuck in the lights. They are still in one piece despite my attempts to plow through some heavy brush out on some single tracks.
