There is no adjustment on brakes. You might have gotten an air bubble in the system. You can try to bleed the rear brake and this should take care of the problem. If not you may have to rebuild the master cylinder.

Just had this happen on a friends sport bike and a simple bleed did the trick.

Bleeding the brakes is certainly the first step. It's actually part of regular maintenance too.

Just want to clarify is the rear brake not working as well as it used to or are you commenting on its considerably lower stopping power than the front.

Here is another possibility. Have you recently oiled the chain with a spray lube? Its easy to over spray and get it over on the brakes.

Get yourself a hydraulic bleeder, makes it SO much easier. Tusk makes one for $10.

I modified my bleeder with a old Mt. Dew bottle (seem to be plenty of those around here) I drilled a hole in the cap the same size as the tubing, slid the tube through the cap and wrapped it with electrical tape. Works great, truly makes bleeding brakes a one man job, and you don't lose any fluid.

Thanks just ordered one from rocky mountain. Nice instructions, seems straight forward:

My '09 has an adjuster for brake pedal position, which in turn provides more leverage (pressure) at the master cylinder. If adjustments don't help -

I'd lift the rear, and look it over carefully. Are the pistons coming out when you depress the brake pedal? Is there oil on the rotor (as someone else suggested)? Pads worn? Pads correct pads? Look it over carefully...
