The piece is to dampen and eliminate any front brak noise....much like a car has the synthetic shims to deaden noise and eliminate brake squeal.....The klx wont get squeal it will get a weird sound...
Mine has a weird brake sound =(harmonic brake vibration) under hard breaking and that's what those doo-dads prevent......you may not get it initially but over time it will show up as you get 4-6000 miles on yer pads. brake noise.It's a lightweight front wheel assembly and a floating rotor and it can....or it will appear if you hammer the brakes with any gusto on the street.

Im starting to get that from my 320mm EBC rotor. Driving me nuts actually, I swear it didn't do it last year. I think my pads may be contaminated. I bought a kdx wheel set last year & when I put that on there must have been oil on the KDX rotor or something because the brakes sucked as soon as I put that wheel on. I cleaned everything the best I could but ever since then I've had doubts about the pads sreading it around to all my other wheels/rotors.
