RE: will a 98 klx 300 exhaust fit an 06
Just got through bolting up the KLX300 header and exhaust to my 2006 KLX250S. Perfect fit and the noise level is low enough that you can leave for work early and not **** off the neighbors.
Did you leave the baffle in or pull it? By baffle I mean the plate with 2 screws on the back of the can. My muffler didn't come with one and it makes my ears ring when I go over a steel deck bridge, so I made my own baffle and a downturn and interchange them as noise level requires.
Ok, If you won't say,I will. He means the 'buttplug' as 300R riders colorfully refer to it as.

100% stock 1995 KLX300R exhaust with baffle. It is quiet to the point that a little more Deep Throat would be OK. But butt plugs?
Mmatz, could you measure the opening on that rear plate? The baffle I made is fairly quiet but its too restrictive, makes the bike vibrate more and loses alot of low end. BTW, try running it with the cap off for a few miles offroad, you might be surprised at the difference.
