radiator question
when i was on some trails one day i was riding up a leafy muddy hill and the bike wouldnt go anywhere so i got off it and tryed popping the clutch and pushing it up the hill and i was revving it pretty good. then it shut off and a fan turned on somewhere near the radiator. just wondering if this is caused from giving it gas and not going anywhere and not getting air into the bike or what?
Did the bike stall out or while you were revving it did it just quit? Did the red overheat light come on on the dash? I've had the fan come on a couple times on my bike while working my way through a nasty rock filled mudhole in the summer, the fan coming on is normal, its to help prevent it completely overheating.
ok i was just making sure it was natural for ut to do that. i didnt look to see if the light came on i was too busy holding the bike up so i didnt get crushed. i guess it helps to have some tread on your tires! ha
My fan has come on once or twice, always in an instance similar to that described by kawiridr04. Since installing my KLX300 tank, though, I still haven't gotten around to installing the dual-fan replacement for the stock unit. I haven't done much low-speed technical trail work, so I haven't needed it. The only single-track stuff I have done since then was at TdAII, and that was all at reasonable speeds.
