Radiator Guards...

I'll contact him, I'm not too far from Indy. I'm not willing to give up my bike untill after the first of October, but after that would be ok.
I'll keep you posted.

Be sure to let me know if this works out. I'm less worried about crashing then I am catching a rock in the radiator. In fact, I skipped the moto-helmet because I looked at my car windshield. [
] A road helmet with a good face/eye shield with safety glasses should do the trick. Of course it's still going to hurt if I ride in blue jeans and catch one in the shin ...

MSR Radiator Guards don't look as stout but, they are available.

I was under the impression that the KLX250 listed on those sites are in reference to the 90's version of our bike?
Braces would be better than nothing and I could just leave on the plastic guards I have stock but if Pilot hooks up with those guys that's what I'm buying. Let us know what Brain at Unabiker saysPilot. I would be stoked!

Just a thought - If we commit to buyingthese radiator guards it might sway his decision some. It sounds like we have 3 firm commitments to purchase and/or test right now.
guys...95% of the stuff for the KLX300 will work on our bike....
also i have done alot of comparisons on bikebandit.com and i found when i crossed alot of parts over to the late 80's-mid '90's kx 250 and 500's that alot of those basic brake and other odds and end parts also match our part numbers.....remember they have different variations listed as well so there are options with parts that must be noted but it's not rocket science.

True, KX-250 brakes and such can be fitted but, other things are not compatible like the fuel tanks and shrouds. Sure, you can work'em over and make'm fit but, it isn't always as simple as getting a KLX-300 part.
The radiators on those bikes appear a bit different, could be my imagination (it's happened before). If anyone has had any luck please share, I'm parts starved on this rock. His braces average about $85 and you can have them annodized (in lots of colors) for about $15. So stylish they are, thrifty is a perspective. Cheaper than new radiators in about two years, that's how long it took me to take one out on my old bike. They look tuff as nails, appear to actually be gapped off the radiator to help air flow and totally surround the body to put the impact of a side crash to the body. I'm anxious to see how Pilot makes out!
(Just have to say that this whole thing is amazing, talking about the same bike in different locations all over the world. Kind of a mind bender. Enough of my hippie thoughts, back to radiators!)
