Exclamation Quick tech help needed broken fork clamp stud

I broke one of my front fork clamp bolts like a turd (I may or may not have exchanged foot lbs for inch lbs without thinking) :P

I got the replacement bolt from the Honda XR 400, looks just right and I've got the old one out easy using a extra small pipe wrench, no heat required even! (THUMBS UP)

But, I recall reading it should have locktite on it, but if so, what grade. I only have red and I don't want this this to be forever stuck, you know in case I ever have a stupid moment and exchange ft lbs for inch lbs or something dumb like that. Anyone else have to replace these and recall what locktite to use?

Seeing as how you might need to loosen it in the future, for example - to adjust the forks after a crash, I'd use blue.
Definitely not red. Red needs heat to loosen.

Why would you need locktite, that doesn't sound right to me. and I wouldn't do it!

I had read, though not in a manual, but on another forum, that you should use locktite on the part of the stud that is attached to the fork side, presumably so that it doesn't back out when you loosen the clamp. I was going to use a dot of red, but luckily I found my blue, so all gravy now ... except the crappy rain. All geared up to break in the new tires and try out my new comfy seat and ... tada, the sky's open up in torrents. :P Tomorrow maybe lol

I replaced mine and didn't use locktite, that was 5 years ago they are still in there.
