I added the Kickstart on the wife's XT 225, took less than an hour and that was the day after I had....uhhh errrrr.....surgery. LOL The kit for her bike was only $105.00 and was really easy. Installing a kick on the KLX was something I wanted to do from the start, just seems like the money is never around long enough to get it done.

One day after the , err, surgery? Wow! I drove home from the UW campus after mine and thought that was pretty "balsy" but no way was I wrenching the next day. Squatting down next to a short XT would have been a no-go.

Default G0#$dam&t!!

$300+ crap is a little steep! I could see the $100 or so, but wtf? Anyway, yes I will probably have to do this, I just like complaining. I know she is worth it but I could buy alot o cool crap for 3+.

Positive note, I finished the MSF course today, so soon as I get a half a day free, I am going to get my license at the DPS office. Has anyone else noticed cops hitting the bikes more lately? Is it just that there are more bikes cause fuel is high, I am a newb so I am noticing it more, or what?

Side note: maybe Deej was sittin on his and didnt have to squat? Still some swelling? I dunno

Later

Default Kickstarter kit

I found KIT.,KICK STARTER (OPTION) for 2007 KAWASAKI KLX250S (KLX250-H7F)
99999-0073 $282.77
and the HOLDER-STEP,RH,P.SILV for 2007 KAWASAKI KLX250S (KLX250-H7F)
34003-1401-458 $60.41

Which I believe is required for the '09 and up KLX250S

The link: http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=377867&category=M otorcycles&make=KAWASAKI&year=2007&fveh=8737[/URL]

So for $343 plus freight and some sweet alone time with the new sweetie I can have the luxury of not worrying too much about that damn battery on the trail.

She is an expensive b*tch!

There you have it.

I installed the kick starter on my 06. It was pretty straight forward and didn't take to long. The only thing I noticed with the 351 cyl, is it is not leg friendly to start.

When I bought my '09 (in '08) I inquired about getting the kick start kit. The dealer wasn't aware of the kit but figured out all the pieces needed. quoted $1500. YOW!! I passed on that.
Makes $300 look real cheap.

Are our 250s bump startable? I remember my ktm 640 need battery juice to even kick it over which is kinda pointless if your battery is dead and you want to kick it.

But are we bumpable? As long as your battery doesn't die in a sand dune or bottom if a pit...

Yes, I've bumped with a low battery that was grinding down towards dead. Took a number of good pushes, and the bike didn't want to run very well at all until, apparently, a little juice built up from charging.

Mine 2010 model wasen't charging the batt and I had to jump start it. It fired right up no prob then driving down the road when the batt completely died so did the bike. Would not run at all. Had to get my truck to get the bike home. Not sure why...I thought for sure it would run. People say they unhook the batt and it still runs so I don't know what happened to mine
