Ive never driven the 07, but the 09 is rock solid cruising fast on the highway. More so then many dual sports ive ridden. Yup, no rack blows, but the rear is long and flat and has tie down pins underneath, so a long narrow bicycle rack bag would mount up perfectly.

Its good to see the whole 07 vs. 09 rivalry die down a bit, cant we all just get along. Its like 2 sisters you want to date, ones uglier but better in the sack.

i have an icon tank bag and wouldn't ride without it. it's big enough for spare gloves, goggles my wallet and a camera.

i have a fairly good asortment of tools in the rear bag. adjustable wrench, tire irons, needle nose pliers, sparkplug socket/wratchetpatches for a flat, tape, zipties. i carry a small pump in my back pack. one of these days i'm gonna get a front fender bag to carry spare tubes.

I have the Moose Racing number plate bag. It's great for small stuff that you want to keep handy without getting off the bike (camera, maps, gloves, ID and registration in case you get hassled by the man, etc). I also want to get their rear fender bagthat EMS has.

To your original question though, cruising at 55-60 mph is no problem. I don't ride my KLX on the highway, but I'm still kind of a novice and I don't mind taking the long way.

Be careful man, brain cells don't come back.
Oh, and deej, it's only the weak ones that die! Who needs them anyway??

hehe with over 1200km on the clock with my 09 It will not go over 158Km/h or 98mph...
I am building a custom aluminum rack/box at the moment for the 09 I needs more storage and fuel
edit to say it is at about 10,000 RPM flat land
and cruisen' in the city I find the stock gearing is great

Na, i took it off once to clean it and the sprocket, and never put it back on, it gets jammed with mud, grass, and leaves.....
