Default Question about KLX250S lowering

Hello, I just joined this forum and I am strongly leaning toward buying a KLX250s and wanted to know if the bike can be lowered at all to allow my 30" legs to reach the ground flatfooted. Would an authorized Kawasaki dealer be able to make the KLX a little lower if lowering was possible or would I have to take the KLX to an independent shop? Also, would most Kawasaki dealers be able to make minor performance upgrade modifications?

I just went through the same thing and this is what I learned...lowering (at least with lowering links)should be a last resort option. First and foremost make sure your race sag is properly set. Search this forum for how to set sag. If the rear spring is correct for your weight you should be able to get pretty close to flat-footing with a 30" inseam. MotoPro makes springs for our bike and they have a weight claculator on their website. If you call john at MotPro he can discuss all the options with you, including how to lower without lowering links.

sounds like you got it sorted out then fireroad. i guess i should say it's good to not hear from you regarding the links. i'm 5'5" with 30" inseam. i don't flat foot, but i've never felt unsafe, street or more importantly, off-road. if the klx was kick start only, sometimes off road that could be a hassle on tip toe and nothing to lean against, but e-start negates that problem.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like something a dealer could adjust.
What about getting a lower aftermarket seat, is that a possible option? I will be riding 95% of the time on the street, so from what I've read, having a 30" inseam shouldn't deter me from buying a KLX250S.

Sorry, I guess my pm's still aren't going through. I just ordered a set of .44 front springs from John and I'm still working on getting sag figured out but it looks like I'll be able to make it without the links.

I just set the suspension to almost full soft in the rear and at 5'7 140-150 lbs (not sure) I can get both front ***** of my feet on the ground and same as neanderthaler ive never felt uncomfortable. The best thing is it just takes a screw driver and less than 5 minutes to do it! Ask the dealer if u can try it then sit on it and see what you think.

Hey Colt welcome to KF,, When I first bought my KLX I thought and wanted it to be lower, but now after putting 700 miles on it. she lowered her self just a **** hair. and its nice and im even thinking about raising it now im around 170 180 lbs. After riding it around and getting it broke in she feels good and i can now put my feet on the round

Unhappy

I just came back from a Kawasaki dealer and sat on the KLX250S and was only able to put my toes on the ground. I weigh around 240 lbs, so maybe a soft suspension setting would help? How about a lower aftermarket seat, are they available. I want a KLX250 bad! A little more lowering and it will be OK.
