Default pumper carb question

I currently own 2009 klx250s and will be ordering a Bill Blue pumper carb in the near future. Hopefully it will get rid of the starting problems and improve throttle responce. My question is, after the carb is installed will it help cut down the amount I have to twist the throttle or is a Vortex replacement throttle needed for that?
Thanx in advance!

Good question, my FCR greatly reduced the throttle throw ... it would be interesting to hear what the difference is with Bill's

The throw is about the same with Bill's pumper. It never really bothered me much but my son likes the vortex better.

On the '09 and newer KLX's, the right side switch gear is built into the throttle housing. If you go with a Vortex throttle, you'll also need to get different, separate switch gear. If you don't want to do that, Wheeling Cycle Supply sells a Zeta quick-turn aluminum throttle tube that will work with the '09 and newer throttle housings. I haven't tried one, but it might be worth a look.
