Problem inserting Acerbis turn signal sockets

Problem inserting Acerbis turn signal sockets
I'm having trouble to fully seat the turn signal sockets on my Acerbis Dual Sport Handguards.
The sockets are all rubber and should be a press-fit into the turn signal housing. I've tried pressing hard enough that I thought it would bend the contacts or break the bulb, and they just won't fully seat properly. I don't think they were meant to only go in part way because the bulb would not be fully visible, and it seems like they would shake themselves loose. Anybody else run into this difficulty?
I was thinking of spraying some kind of lube on them, but worried that the wrong kind (e.g.: silicon spray on silicon rubber) could deteriorate the socket.
Anybody have any bright ideas for my not so bright problem?
FYI - I picked up a 15' roll of 1/4" heat shrink tubing to put over the turn signal wires for some protection (not just over the solder joint, but over the whole length of the wires). Looks like it will be a very clean installation. Pics to follow when I'm done.

RE: Problem inserting Acerbis turn signal sockets
I just used a little lube. It doesn't take much. Those plugs are about impossible to get all the way in without something. With the lube, I can push mine all the way in until the bulb makes contact with the lens. I sure hope there isn't anybody out there with a dirty mind....lube...push all the way in....[sm=gobble.gif]

Thanks for the tips ... they're all good!
a16tony: Excellent idea!
deej: I saw "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" ... wonder why I didn't think of that?!??
dazjr: I confess - I was a little concerned about how to word a post about "lube". But don't get any wrong ideas about me thanking you for the "tip"!!!
