That's the same set up that he sent me. Still, they shift when I move the bike around by the rack. I'm thinking of tack welding them, but then I'd have to break it for any kind of maintenance..

That's why I think a beefier sleeve internally or a clip externally to keep them from moving would be the better option.

Yeah I does the same. Now way to really strengthen that area, not really meant for the leverage of moving the bike around.

Does anyone run JUST the PMR side racks or something better? I typically dont like rear racks, I was tihnking of just running the side utility racks and going with something like a Giant Loop Coyote system, just want something to keep the bags up off the plastics and get a few mounting points.

I have a Nomadic rear rack and PMR sides. I'm sure you can use the side racks on their own just have to get the proper length of mounting bolts.
GL would be a good system for sure.

I will add my 2 cents since I just bought the side racks. Let me preface by saying i have not discussed this with PMR, and he was very helpful answering my questions.

This possibly only pertains to running just the side racks (without the rear rack).

First of all, all this talk about aluminum spacers to fix the wobble issue...mine came with all those spacers and sleeves but in a delrin type material

Issue 1. The sleeves do not "fit" the hole in the rack very well, i.e. they are too small and dont fill up the hole, meaning they dont do much to hold the bolt steady.

Issue 2. The spacers (also delrin) when not running the tail rack are not machined large enough to also use the bolt sleeve. I would have to drill out a portion of the spacer to also use the sleeve....

Issue 3. The biggest issue is the racks fit way too close to the plastics. When tightening the bolts, I can watch my fairings compress and bend inward. I would need to use probably 2-3 washers at each bolt hole to "space off" the rack enough from the bike. Really not happy about that at all.... Perhaps because I am not running the tail rack? But they are advertised as being standalone, so I find this fitment issue pretty unacceptable and would probably damage my plastics if left unaddressed.

Issue 4. Has been mentioned by others...they feel very... unstable. I'm talking pinky finger pressure can move and bend the racks (actually the bolts) up to an inch. Placing bags onto the racks you can watch them bend.... I am afraid that one good drop would now do even more damage and bend the racks on the bolts and rip the mounting tabs off the frame. I think you could solve this issue by adding another piece of tubing towards the rear of the rack that connects to the subframe that keeps the racks from being able to bend inward.

But as it stands stock... that is my impression of them. Not my intention to bash or speak negatively about them, I think they are very well made and look great, but these are simply my initial impressions of them and what I thought I would be getting and what I ended up getting.

Should I ask for another set of racks or am I expecting too much?
