Ported my CV carb
I'm thinking this is where the air goes in that lifts the slide.. I didn't have any power tools (yet) so it was done by hand. There are tools on the way, so I may go back in and smooth it out. Maybe even radius the opposite side if I get really bored
Can't confirm any positive results per se, but I know every little bit helps.
A number of years ago I replace my shower faucets with Calif friendly eco-conserve units and the water flow was a bit dismal - until I disassembled them and put a radius on each hole inside the faucet head - then there was noticeable increase in water flow
Ahm I thought the hole(s) in the bottom of the slide (mine has only one) let engine vacuum evacuate the area in and above the slide/diaphragm combo with atmospheric pressure then coming in thru this area I've ported rushing in to fill the vacuum - but with the vacuum being on the top side of the slide's diaphragm and the atmospheric air located under the bottom of the diaphragm, it pushes the slide up as it strains against the diaphragm ?
Over the years btw, I have made it a point to seal the bottoms of slides of various non-CV carbs to keep the vacuum signal in the carb and in the venturi, rather than have it weakened when it is at the same time normally sucking air out of the non-CV carb's slide via the throttle cable hole etc, much like happens in the CV carbs.
Usually I've had to reduce the pilot jet a size as now the vacuum is indeed stronger and pulling against the pilot jetting harder
