Please HELP!

RE: Please HELP!
I changed the plug and checked all my electrical connections and made sure my air filter was sealed up good and its still running like crap around 6K and up.
I don't know what to do now but take it to the dealer for warranty. I'm just scared they will notice my muffler has had most of it internal baffels removed and I made the exit hole out the back about 1". It looks really good...people can't tell Its not stock until they look inside the muffler.
Would that void my warranty...I bet it will.

RE: Please HELP!
It's hard to say without hearing the bike. Before I took it to the shop I would check some basic things first:
1) Check the plug on your ignition exciter, I believe it's behind the left side panel.
2.) Intake manifold. If it's sucking air it could cause problems at high RPM's (Check the rubber boots around the carb, air box and cyl head).
3.) Petcock, switch to reserve and on.
4.) Inspect the air box for oil or water,
5.) Take the top of the carb off and inspect the diaphram and needle jet. Spray some carb cleaner while you're in there.
I can't think of anything else except a bad exciter. But the fact that it revs without a load sounds like an air/fuel problem to me.
If the dealer gives you a hard time go to another one. But, they probably won't. It's more than likely something simple.
