Default PLaces I don't want my WR450f

1.) Any form of MX track

I took the ole WR out to a local MX style track that had been built in a field not being used by an ever so generous local rancher. Its a handful in the tight corners, and Im no good at jumping anyways. I do like the acceleration coming from a corner (read: SLOW) and being able to hit some small doubles. I just need some more time to feel good hitting the corners, coming out not all screwy and be confident in the jump.

Other than that Im good

The other night I rode on the track that I have been building, and its an absolute blast. No jumps, but a good mix of tight trail and open sections that really make me enjoy the WR. I am comfortable on this track/trail, probably because I ran it a lot on my KLX, that I ride a bit harder and better use the WR's acceleration to come out of a corner and make a hill climb.

So anyways, there is a short ride report. I really felt the weight of the WR today, something I had not experienced yet. I think a 250f would best suit me if I more frequently rode on MX conditions. (A YZ would be best, but fail at all my other riding)

Sweet! Bike looks great. For something as demanding as MX, some suspension adjustments and possible spring replacement is probably mandatory. The WR is enduro, so its valving is not going to be very happy with the bigger MX jumps. So don't beat it up too much if its not up to MX. Then again, MX bikes are usually pretty poor performers in the woods. It'd be hard to set a bike up to do both well.

The 450 is only 14 more pounds than the 250. Larger rear tire and of course piston. I was looking at them today. And heck yes it weighs less than the klx., WR is alum. Oh well I'll just have to bulk up, lol. Nice looking bike.

Right, its at home in the woods, and thats where Im more at home. My riding buddy is big on the MX tracks to get him into racing shape... I'd like to dabble in it to get more comfortable on the small jumps and corners, but really I have no desire to beat my bike up on the jumps, and myself if and when I go down. I prefer to go down slow and easy
