The web site I looked at happened to be using a Toyota as an example and it was spring loaded, but I think your right. The one I put in my street rod was'nt now that I think about it.

I probably should think more before I type.

I have a question? Does rejetting without buying a new pipe have any advantages or does it go hand in hand? I want to make my throttle have a little more response to it, but being it is my first bike andI dont want to make it a souped up rocked that I can't handle when I am still learning how to ride.

Thanks

Yes, I am sure you could rejet & find some more somehwere even with the stock pipe & intake. It wont be as drastic as with pipe & airbox mods but I highly doubt the factory got it spot on. The problem is I have not heard of anyone trying this on the KLX with stock pipe/airbox so you would be on your own trail & error--everything I have heard of involved some pipe/airbox mods.

You will definitely see benefits by rejetting, drilling the slide vent, and opening the airbox up even if you don't upgrade the pipe. You should drill the stock pipe using a 1/2 inch bit, though, to allow a little more flow. And don't worry, the improvements are noticable but it won't drastically change the character.
