Default PCV valve mod

So I picked up one of them PCV valves and am going to attempt the mod marty (i think) made up with the crank case vent. Only difference is I've got the no brakes vent mod going on too, so I'm going to combine them.

Question is, I'm thinking I'm going to put the pcv valve at the end of the hose right where the crankcase vent is. Should this do or should I put it closer to the actual crank case like as described in the marty mod.

Found the link for the other mod for more clarity:

wouldn't this ruin your oil seals?

i have done this mod.... pretty much exactly how marty did.... I can see this mod making a big difference in bigger cc bikes, but honestly i didnt notice a difference, one thing that it will help with though if you get into deep water, the pcv valve "in theory" wont let the water in the motor..... but if you do it, just try it at the end by the fiilter, and if you dont notice anything i would just take it off... maybe over winter i will just reroute the vent and do the nobrakes vent mod and get rid of the pcv valve....

Would ya do this along with drilling out the restriction in the airbox where the crankcase vent hose connects???

I'd say it makes drilling the airbox moot since the hole idea of the pcv mod is to eliminate the back and forth of the air.

But what air you are trying to move out of the crankcase throug the PCVis still being restricted by the block in the airbox so not as much is leaving but your doing good by not letting any air back in. Maybe doing both would let you have your cake and eat it too???

The restriction is more of an issue with the rapid back and forth movement of the air through the restriction point. With the PCV valve, the air exits and never returns leaving a vacuum in the crankcase. Thus, the restriction is not an issue since as soon as the motor is started, the air is pushed out and a vacuum is maintained as long as the engine is running. Once the engine stops, I presume the air would slowly return unless all the seals are perfect, but they are not because even the piston rings have gaps and are not an air tight seal.

But as Eric said, this is probably a more noticeable mod for bigger bores with more displacement.

Yeah, I'll give it a go in the spring time when I can really check it out and see if it makes any difference. I was just at Canadian tire looking for JB Weld [:@]and passed by them, remembering the marty mod.
