Opening up the 09 KLX250S
Someone please help:
I ran up on this from a post back in October 2010. Can someone please help with possibly some directions or pictures?
Thanks, in advance.
1) 13t C/S sprocket.
2) Air valve plumbing removed and all holes plugged.
3) Pilot air screw out 2.5 turns.
4) Slide vent hole drilled out to 7/64ths.
5) Swapped in a pre-'06 KLX300 49 state needle (N1TC) with clip in slot 2 down from the top.
6) #122 Main Jet.
7) Air box snorkel replaced with 14073-1577 high flow unit
8) 1/2" hole drilled in the first baffle plate in the muffler.
Now THIS is the way this bike is supposed to run! Night and day difference! YEAAAA HAAAA!

If you've got an 09, Dynojet kit 2152 is all you need for the carb unless you'd like to install a Kouba screw at the same time to make adjustment easier on the pilot screw. The kit comes with jets and a needle, it dosen't have any pilot jets but on mine and lots of others it wasn't necessary if you follow the directions. The air valve is smog crap and dosen't add performance so it's not necessary to mess with it. The Dynojet kit has a spring in it so you don't need to drill the slide. Just pull the snorkle from the airbox or remove the lid. Add an aftermarket exhaust, don't drill the stocker. Then a quality air filter and your done. From what is being posted here this will get you 4-5 extra hp, not bad when you consider stock is 16-18hp.
) 13t C/S sprocket. Available on line stores everywhere.
2) Air valve plumbing removed and all holes plugged.Block off plate from B&B cycles (Bill Blue)
3) Pilot air screw out 2.5 turns. you will need to remove the tamper proof cover
4) Slide vent hole drilled out to 7/64ths. This is the hole in the slide that the needle does not go through, it's a vacuume port and drilling large rwill help off idle bog.
5) Swapped in a pre-'06 KLX300 49 state needle (N1TC) with clip in slot 2 down from the top.
6) #122 Main Jet.
7) Air box snorkel replaced with 14073-1577 high flow unit ( dont bother, just remove the stock one and call it a day, or,, take the lid off and adjust jetting richer
8) 1/2" hole drilled in the first baffle plate in the muffler. Dont do it, keep it stock and buy a Q4 pipe or similar.
