That's why I don't want to pay over $70 or so on a plain TM36-2 without the AP. If you get in around $150 it makes sense to go for the $270 TM36-68.

The jetting for the standard -2 should be relatively close to the -68.

As delivered jetting is different between the two carbs, including the needle jet series. There are some slight differences in dimensions, but only the intake bell size might be a factor.

TM 36-2 vs TM36-68 specs

Oops I see you have that info already

My comment on the jetting wasn't to what they came with, but hopefully what they end up with. In other words, the pilot, needle and main might be close to the same for the basic flat slide as the pumper flat slide.

I'm thinking if I do this I can take the air boot off, warm it up in boiling water then fit it over the bell mouth - off the bike. Let it cool to hold the size. If that didn't do it, careful work with a heat gun could soften the boot and have it take a set at the proper size.

Leaving the stock rubber intake on the 40mm's bell seemed to stretch it some, but not much. Extra boots are cheap on eBay if you mess one up somehow.

You'll be shooting in the dark for needle jet/needle size if no one else has done it, and you evidently can't just use pumper 36 needle jets in the non-pumper carb because the needle jet's for the two carbs utilize a different series. Though you should be able to find out the OD of the popular TM36-68 needle and ID needle jet combo. Then shoot for a similar clearance with the series needle jet and needle that's in the 36-2.

The place I got the 40mm carb and extra needle jets etc from wasn't believing me when I told him I had some 40mm specific needles that wouldn't fit into 40mm needle jets more than a few mm-until he tried some of the ones he had on hand.

But ahm we're hijacking this dyno jet spring thread.
