You said that well, Jason. I understand. Kind of like any sport, tons of really good amateur talent out there, but professional riders are such a small fraction of the elite, only a very few make it to that level. And once there, the reality may not be as glamorous as it seems from the outside. It has been said, never turn your hobby into your business because then you will hate your hobby. On the flip side, it's nice to make a living doing what you love. It's all about balance, I guess. Not easy to put into words but I think most folks can understand where you are coming from.

I use to eat sleep and breathe riding. In order to ride MX and FMX you need to feel the "burn". When some MXrs ask me why I dont do it anymore I simply say I dont feel the burn anymore. Even though Im the only person so far to use that term everyone seems to understand what I mean. Riding MX isnt something you do to ride. When your on the bike on the track your not riding. Think of it more as simply performing a bodily function. The bike is part of your body and the bike needs to ride. You don't ride because you want to, you ride because you must. IF you do not do that, or feel that, .... its over. You can't fake it. This isn't sex.......its better. I have YET to encounter something better then flying off a jump and floating behind the bike in the air, then grab it and get back on.

Sure, I've slung my leg over a bike and hit some jumps since then, even did a few tricks. It never really goes away. But the burns just not there. If I see some good riding, it may come back for about 20 seconds and I'm all hopped up, but then after that it just twitters away. I had a CR250 Hell beast I sold last year. I sold it because all it did was sit. I barely rode it. Once every 6 weeks or so I took it out for literally 5 minutes just to rip and tear it around and keep it running. I figured if that was all I was doing then it needed to go. May as well get some cash back out of it. One of the other reasons I didn't ride it was because it was a super pain from where I lived to drive where the bike was load up then haul it. Super super super pain. The KLX is where its at. Just roll right out of my garage. Now, what would be even better is if I had a 4 stroke 450 MX/ Enduro bike legalized. I feel that would be a great medium. Like how one of our own forum members has that KLX 450 thats road legal............yeah, thats awesome.

But anyway, back to the MX stuff......being in the business ruins it for ya. FMX sucks and MX and SX isnt great either. But FMX is the worst. Just alot of immature crap...backstabbing..jackasses. Its unreal what you DONT see. And like I said in the beginning of the post, dont mix business with pleasure. I eat and breathed riding and it damn near ruined it for me. I wen't years afterwards without riding at all. At one point I honest felt I would never ride again. But time heals all wounds I guess.

But now. When I'm offroad, I'm in 1st or second gear...depending on what sprockets I have on. I'm in no hurry to get anywhere. And its actaully kind of funny because now I'm back riding in the places I use to go before FMX and its funny to see people make such a big deal out of the smallest stuff....ah, memories.
Very well said.

I to really wished they made a street legal KLX 450...like what was Kawasaki thinking?
