anyone noticing if there valves are getting noise? i have an 09 with a little over 2000 miles on it, broke in by the book, changed the oil and filter. sounds like the valves is this a known problem i tryed the search no help thanks for any info

 

Check valve clearances and adjust, another known factor is the timing chain maybe in between notches on the adjuster and will make noise until it tightens up.

i think the book says that they need ajusted i dont know if its 1500 or 2500 im not sure but i remember seeing it in the book, they probably need adjusting

 

Kawasaki recommends a valve adjustment every 7,500 miles for the 06 thru 09 KLX250S.

 

just checked my vavles at 3200 miles. only one intake was a little out of spec. i'd check them but would lean towards the timing chain.

 

if this is the timing chain should it eventually go away

 

If it is the cam chains auto slack adjuster then it will eventually go away, but it is simple to manually move it to the next tooth.

 

so how does one do this ????

Slowly and evenly remove the two 8mm bolts from the tensioner until it clicks once, and then run them back in tight. Leave the larger 12mm bolt holding the spring in place. I had to do this the other day, my chain was driving me NUTS at about 4500 RPM. After above procedure, all is quiet now, except for the pipe......
