Default No Juice

A blown fuse caught me off-guard this weekend on my 2012 KLX. Was blasting through the desert yesterday & noticed some backfire from the exhaust. We pulled over and I noticed the display was going crazy. Shut the bike off (mistake) and I'm completely dead - in the middle of Stoddard Wells OHV.

Fortunately I packed a tie-down in case my kid's new 23 year old KDX broke LOL. The boy towed me several miles back to our truck..

Lesson 1: Murphy is one sick bastard.
Lesson 2: Always be prepared. (I packed that tie-down at the last second before hitting the trail-lucky me). Will always pack for a tow + carry spare fuses.
Lesson 3: I really impressed my kid by being prepared.

To that point, what essential fuses should we put in our toolkits?

I see the hard-core KLR guys converting the glass fuses to blade-type. They claim the blade style are more durable. FWIW.

What kind of fuses do the '06 - '07 use? '09 & up use blade type. I'd expect the blade type to be much more durable as far as carrying spares. A bit harder to tell a blown one sometimes though.

Fuses don't blow for no reason. Find the reason. If it was vibration then get used to replacing fuses regularly. If it was wiring that's rubbed through on the frame, find it and fix it.
