Hi
Just purchased a 2009 fi model with 3.5k on the clock for £2,150.
The only mod is to disable the rev reducer in 4th, 5th and 6th by stripping and taping some wiring at the bars. Is this ok/recommended?
Want to get into trail riding and it was the klx or a crf. The klx came up first.
Am 5ft4" w/o boots, but weigh 12 stone w/o gear, so need to reduce seat height. As a start intend to drop the front and adjust pre-load/damping.
Any suggestions on adjusting the rear would be appreciated.
Thanks.

do the wire mod it is almost a must if you want to go over 65 mph
later if you want do the mcm mod to get some more powah out and lower down the rev range

Search "lowering links" on this site to learn about lowering seat height. An aftermarket seat/foam is another option.

Thanks for your responses.
Just rode the bike home about 30 miles (all good so far).
The mod releasing revs in the top gears was done by the previous owner.
What is the mcm mod please?
Am intending to order the Soupy's 2-6 inch lowering kit From USA, so expensive for me but can't get anything similar in Europe.
We backed the pre-load right off and dropped the front amap. I can only just get one tippy toe down (one side only).
Am going for the maximum adjustable kit so I can keep most adjustment on the suspension, and I need at least two inches (unless someone can correct my reasoning).
Thanks once again.

Welcome to KF.
Spend a little time looking around the forum, maybe use the search functions, and you'll find lots of lowering threads and info on the MCM.
Some guys have made their own lowering links for cheap! (I think zombywoof is one).

👍Thanks, will do. Having read through the recommended article from Topher am considering a 40mm drop kit and lowering the seat if needs be.
