Default DIY Shaved Seat

After riding around my 2010 KLX for a year, I realized that I'd probably feel more comfortable with a lower seat. I've never lost control (unintentionally) or dropped her at a stoplight due to the height, but whenever I've ridden lower rigs I've just felt more in control.

Searching this forum and others I picked up some seat shaving ideas, but nobody put together (from what I found) a detailed account of the build. Some folks on here have requested more information, and seeing as I was launching into this project, I figured I'd stop being a lurker and contribute.

I'm 5'8", but more importantly my inseam is about 30"- but because I have such enormous ********* a modification was necessary Like I mentioned, I never had trouble handling the KLX's height, but I wanted it lower and I didn't want to sacrifice my suspension. A seat mod seemed the way to go.

Under $4.00 (for staples), using tools I had, plus a few hours, I have a new saddle that is lower, wider (maybe more comfortable?) and cost me very little. Hope this helps out!

Default Looks good!

The seat looks great! The bikes aren't that tall though, and they are one of the lightest bikes made. I ride my friends bikes and jump on my klx and it feels like a mini bike. Either way the seat looks great my friend. Cool mod!!

I needed a good laugh today after a very stressful week....good info, and damn funny! My wife usually just runs along side to hold mine. Cheers.
