Default New Retard

Hey guys been lurking for a month now. I suppose i should finally post up. I picked myself up a 09 sf a month ago. Brand spankin new.

Ive got a few questions for you jetting guru's. I recently put on a two bros slipon, air cleaner screen removed, smog delete, and removed the snorkel.

I put the DJ 2182 kit in. Needle set at 3 from the top. 128 main and 3 turns out on the mixture. My question is this. I get a slight miss every now and then only in 4th and higher gears. Also When cruising any rpm over 6k rpm in 6th gear it chugs and spits sometimes. What are these symptoms telling me? Mixture too rich? Maybe i should go a half turn in? Other then the very few chugs and spits it gives me the throttle response is awesome.

Thanks in advance for your guys help.

Mike

When do you get the slight miss? A lean condition at a certain constant rpm will feel like a miss.

check the plug and see if your rich or lean. might need to put in a 1/2 turn in or so. nice bike and vdub too.

The pilot mixture screw only affects fuel flow at idle to about 1/4 slide opening. From there, it's the needle to about 3/4 slide opening and then the main jet is the controlling factor. They do overlap.

Ride on

so your saying the mixture screw is not my culprit? Its maybe a leaning out factor? so i should go to the next size jet?

Mix screw is the idle mix screw, won't effect +6k under load with the loud handle twisted, or the plug color as it relates to cruise rpms.

Qualify my "try a 132" because my bike was lean on top with possibly more restrictive box and pipe than yours. KDX snorkle in place and a 300 pipe (uncorked). 128 ran ok but was on the edge of lean and would stumble and fall flat on a cool morning. That was with stock filter foam, when I put the k&N in it it started doing it consistently. 132 fixed it, also eliminated some off throttle popping I was fighting with screw and PJ swaps to no avail.
