Well I finally bought me a project bike last night, its a 1979 Suzuki RM-400. It needs a few things (mainly cosmetics) like all the plastics and such, but the motor has great compression. Im gonna restore this for a rider not for a showroom so it wont be all stock. I bought this to TRY some vintage AHRMA racing.

LOL! Looks nice! You crazy old fart! And I mean that from one crazy old fart to another!
LMFAO.....I know I know...but Im serious I really want to try it. Im not looking to win or be national champ...I just want to compete. Of course after 1 race I might retire to my leisuuuure riding again

Thanks guys, I used to ride a 1978 RM125 when I was a 16 so Im really looking forward to this. I passed on the TT600 because I wanted a 2 stroke race bike again. Im also hoping to get my 7yr old sons handsdirty on this project.

Kinda funny, tonight I removed the carb and all it took was a phillips screwdriver and 5min, definately different than my klx.

I work with a guy that has a 1975 yamaha 400 2 stroke dual sport. Its pretty cool. He cant find any parts for it though, he had a real hard time getting fork seals. Ebay is good though, he bought a whole new set of forks.

nice looking bike!, i had the rm250 from around that era and that almost pulled my arms out of there sockets when the power kicked in, your ones gonna be a complete blast. if you need any parts and you cant find them i've got the UK's biggest MX salvage yard a few miles from me, and his yard is full of machines from the way-back era.

Theres still alot of factory parts available, I ordered some from www.bikebandit.com yesterday. However, they have discontinued alot as well, some that I needed too.
