I'll check and see. I really don't think it's the plastic. It just seems to be comming from the top end of the motor. Thats as far as I can tell as I'm motoring along at 55mph and trying to maintain control of the bike and be aware of traffic around me.

I know the exact noise your talking about, and mine did it too... and now doesnt...

FYI, if you call Kawasaki direct, you may not like thier suggestions.... been there done that....

My advise, find a shop that knows what they are doing.....

results of a shop not knowing what they are doing.....

EMS, hey.. your from Pittsburgh, I'm form Altoona. Hello neighbor.

That kiiiiiiiiiinda sounds like mine. Except yours is doing it on idle, mine doesn't. And after not hearing it....or paying attention to hearing it I should say, for a few days... I'm having trouble remembering if thats the EXACT same sound. But I can say that it's similar. I'm thinking that mine is more of a rattling tap. I'm going to have to go for a spin on it and see. Today is the first day I haven't gone out on it so far since I started riding it lol. Like I said though, mine starts at 4500 and goes to 6000, anything less theres no noise, anything more...same thing, no noise.

That sounds like mine after I took out the chain tensioner, and put it back in. After taking it out one click, it did the 4500 RPM rattle, one more click, no more noise, still quiet a week later.

I talked to the dealer about mine today. Their honestly not sure. They left it up to me. I can ride and see if it goes away or gets worse or have them tear it down. He said Kawasaki does not think its anything major like a valve since its only at one RPM. He said he would personally just ride it. If it is something major it will get worse and become a clearer issue. They don't want to risk it being something dumb like the chain and me get billed for it if everything is in clearance, so the choice is mine. I think I am gonna ride the **** out of it. If it is something it will break before 9 more months.

OK, I didn't get to ride it today because I spent an excessive amount of time cleaning it. It was filthy dirty and I ended up cleaning it and the only reason I stopped was because it was dark. I'm going to have to resume tomorrow or something. It's not good to let that crud sit on the bike, especially on aluminum, and speically not cast aluminum. It will set in and stain and look like pig poo

However, after washing it, like always, I started it. After it was good and warmed up I listened to it. I didn't hear anything at idle. I revved it to 4500 RPM....nothing...then to 6000 RPM...nothing. Then to 7000 RPM and still nothing so I let off and let it idle down. I did this two more times. Nothing happened. So it either quit (which I highly doubt) or it only happens when its being driven under load. So theres something new.

But I want this figured out, I thought I was the only one with this problem. Aparantly we all have it!!!.

Just for the record, can get get a good detailed step by step description of how to adjust this cam chain adjuster. I think I got the gist of it from the previous posters description but to me as a reader that has never done that before, I kinda got lost in a place or two.

Thanks guys.
