Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just purchased a new 2010 KLX 250S. I will be using it mostly for riding trails and fire roads. Might have some carburetor questions later. Still reading lots of old post.

Congrats on the new bike! You're in for some fun. Reading the old threads is the best way to go. There is so much info here on KF. The earch function, though sketchy, will also help you find many answers.

The KLX is a great starter bike I trail rode mine for 4 summers (07,08,09,10). I loved it although it lacks horsepower you can pipe & jet it, as well as do the gearing for low end. I left the front sprocket stock and went from 42 to 48 in the rear. Works better in the bush as well as on the street/hiway. It keeps the bike in the power sweet spot!! (6500-7800rpm) and I can still cruise at 110kph at about 7250rpm. I also find the forks a bit soft for bigger hits (I weigh 180lbs) so when I do the fork seals I will add stiffer springs!! The KLX is heavy and has a tendency to push hard in the corners so a steering stabilizer I would recomend although I do consider myself a fairly agressive rider the last couple of years and that might be a factor. Ride and decide what may work for you, this has just been my expierence with the bike.

Ken
