New countershaft sprocket

Default New countershaft sprocket

Hello everyone, im going to be installing a 13 tooth countershaft sprocket on my 2012 klx 250s just wondering what the torque specifications were on countershaft sprocket nut?

You'll find it in the service manual, no one is going to remember that. I just wanted to warn you they're a bitch to get off, so you'll probably need to use an air gun. I've heard after you crack the nut for the first time it gets easier. [Insert crack here]

That's the truth! I used a 3' breaker bar to reduce the risk of damaging the shock forces an impact wrench may induce. Let me tell you that even with all the leverage I had it was still no easy task.

I also found that the C/S nut 'retightens' over time making it just as difficult to remove subsequent times too. The last time I reinstalled it I used some anti-seize compound so I am hoping that will reduce the effort to get it back off next time.

Thank you for the quick reply i will ask the dealer when i pick up the sprocket for the specs. Last time i downloaded manuals on the internet i picked up a nasty virus. The nut came off easy i stood on right side of motorcycle right foot on brake leaned over the bike and it came off pretty easily. Thanks

92.2 ft-lb. It only feels like 263.8 ft-lb when removed...from most of these.
