IDK what anybody says.. For one around here the law dont give a flying F*ck if someone does this kind of stuff in the woods like the nails/pits/fishingline/cumalong cable.. they are reall asses.. This guy got what he F*cuking deserved... Cuase this **** that everyone is doing can get us KILLED and its not even F*Cking funny grrrr this straight up pisses me off... there was a post a few months back about this... Keep your eyes Keen guys huntin season is here and stupid rednecks will fire on ya.. I know this cuase all they have to say is that there was a deer and you rode right in the path.. seen this played out

 

I am not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about this.
I would have called the cops, its not private property, so they need to know someone is up to some ugly $hit.
Perhaps he has a problem with people running loud exhausts at night, or venturing onto his property, or something.
No way do I think what he did was right, but I am not thinking what you did was right either.
I hope it smooths over, but you just know he is pissed off now, and will be seeking revenge. Big time.

Well if you live to take him to court, his argument won't hold up at all. He is responsible for whatever he shoots, no matter what. He could fire a rifle straight up and walk away. If it hits someone he's responsible.
