Default Neutral light not coming on.

Hey guys

My 2009 KLXs 250 has been running flawlessly for a couple years now, but I went to take it out for it's second ride this spring and found the neutral light wasn't coming on (when it's in neutral) and it won't start with the kickstand down (in neutral). I know the neutral light itself is working as it lights up when I turn the key on. Right now I have to put the kickstand up to start it and I can't leave it running in neutral while the bike is resting on the kickstand. I'm sure it's some sort of neutral sensor malfunction that works in conjunction with the kickstand sensor, but I'm not sure where to find it or how to replace it.

Can anybody give me a clue as to where I might find and replace this sensor?

Thanks

The neutral switch connector is by the shifter. Check that the wire is clicked on there securely. To check if the switch itself is faulty hook the wire to ground with a jumper. The neutral switch looks as though it threads into the shift cover from the outside.

Thanks Man You was right on.
It was an easy fix too, the wire had just come loose, all I had to do was clean it up and put it back on nice and tight and it's running like a top again.

Thanks again.

You're welcome. It helps that my KLX is sitting in the basement, just a few steps away.
