Default NCHSA Rd 2: Mountain Challenge Hare Scramble

I started a thread on ADVrider to post updates on my hare scramble races. Hopefully I'll be able to do more this season than in prior ones, so I decided to just start a single thread to track them instead of an individual thread each time. The latest one from last Sunday a week ago is actually the first report in this thread. Just got the video posted a little bit ago.

If anyone is interested in this stuff ...

Great report and helmet cam video. You passed alot of guys on that one hill in the first half of the vid. Looks like a challenging course and alot of fun too.
Keep them coming. Thanks.

Dude...I don't think anyone has posted a video from the start of a race like that. Very cool Brian. Lots of orange bikes there.

Here's a map I did of the course, I thought it was pretty cool. I had a tiny little GPS datalogger in my pack. I know the video doesn't really show it because I've had several people ask, but it was very hilly and some of the hills were darn steep and looong. I walked about the 1st mile of the track to check it out before the race and I had trouble just walking up some of them. In looking at the same sections on the video, they almost look flat. Video just does not do a very good job of showing the terrain elevation changes. You can hear the engine straining in several sections, though, so that should be a clue.

Anyway, I thought this was pretty cool:

That is cool. Seeing the map really shows the terrain changes. Technology is great.
