I just received the collar for my N1TC needle for the KLX.

No instructions and it's been a long time since I used this needle.

Does the collar go on the upper side of the clip or the lower side? Does the clip sit right on the upper side of the carrier?

Any shims required for the N1TC in the 250s?

Depends what you want to do. The collar normally goes on top of the needle clip, but I think it is one-half-clip-position thick, so it can go beneath the clip for a half clip position shim. Under normal installation, yes the clip on the needle goes directly against the top of the slide (I think that's what you're referencing when you say carrier).

 

Thanks Lutz. It's been a while since I dickered with a CV carb. I was picturing the needle seating on top of the plastic spring carrier. Good thing I asked cause that would have made for quite the rich condition, eh?

The carb's safely tucked away now for the evening. Rejetted at 122 with the clip in the second position. Slide hole drilled and the spring shortened by 4 coils.

It'll go in tomorrow at lunchtime with a short ride to verify that all is well.
