Bolt Barn has a good selection of Stainless fastners. I found the ones that fit the racks sold on ebay but they would not do buisness with a foreign country like Guam.

My only advice would be to come up a little higher on the frame, similar to the Utah skid plate. i think you have a great idea with the plastic, and if you change the bolts you could really be on to something. I'd like to see how it holds up on a rough trail ride.
How much did that cost you, how much would you charge to make me one?

I got the plastic at a plastic wholesale place in town. I was in the scrap bin for $3. I could make you one too. I may be selling the KLX soon and buying a DR-Z400. If that is the case, I can sell you this one. Keep in touch.

2yoo do you have a page on Bike pics? heavyfuel?

I think my plate uses Large Pan Head Allen so they don't snag trail junk.

I removed the small metal plate that came with the bike and used those nuts that are welded on the frame to hold my skidplate. I got the plastic from a plastic supply company, Multi-craft Plastics. http://www.multicraftplastics.com/
