my 351 review(opinion)
about me...main bike is 2013 ninja 636. always had an interest in the whole dual sport concept even though i do not get off road often. I bought a new2009 and 2012 klx in the past.Sold them and bought a new 2013 cfr250l,sold that and tried a 2009 wr250r.sold that and tried a 2006,then most recently a 2009 drz400s..sold that and now back to a 2010 klx250 turned 351...
ITS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR ALL ALONG!!!!!..DRZ400s power in a smaller chassis,lighter,not top heavy,6 speed machine.on paper the WR may have more HP..but it doesnt pull like this 351, and the yamaha needs to be revved quite high. The drz is large/heavy and steers strange..MY OPINION. The bike pulls harder, accelerates faster, and possibly more top speed than the DRZ. alot of people say just get an orange bike from the get-go...well maybe..but who leaves a bike stock? even a faster, more expensive bike? so the complaint of the cost of the big bore on the klx is a moot point.the ktm needs aftermarket help, costs alot more, and try putting the same miles on one as the kawasaki(honda,yamaha or suzuki). The 351 is how the bike should be honestly.Way more fun, and capable. only regret is that I didnt do it to my first klx..would have saved me alot of time and $$$ vs buying all the other bikes..if you are on the fence about the BB kit,as I was...DO IT..find a reputable place to install it and enjoy the bike a 1000x more

It def. Is a monetary decision....especially if paying someone to install it as i did....however if it makes me keep the bike longer due to enjoying it much more then it was worth the cost..for me the klx frame with 351 cc's is the closest to perfect,inexpensive combo
A big bore kit can be installed on the EFI model
But it requires a fuel controller also.
Getting a big bore kit shipped in from the US can get expensive.
I've been looking at gettin an OEM 300 kit, but that too is expensive.
For the cost of a bbk and fuel controller is the potential power gain worth the £££? IMO I'm not sure if it is

the 351 kit is $537...you have to pay an extra $175 that is refunded to you when you send in your 250 cylinder after install...I mailed my cylinder in with the $537...my kawasaki dealer quoted 6 hrs to do it, said they would charge me 5 hrs @$75hr....figure in time to rejet the carb,and all fluids etc id say its a $500 job at a stealership.
I will agree that it's the single best mod you can do to your KLX. I don't have mine anymore, but I had kit #8!
And if you have a few tools, do the install yourself and save some $$! It's very straight-forward and simple. The best $550 you can spend on the bike, that's for sure!
