Muzzy status
Thanks for being objective. I think there might be some improvement, but certainly not what we have already seen with the "free mods" on the bikes.
Who did you order the Muzzy from? What was the cost? What did you order - quiet plug? Would you order from the same folks?

I ordered from the infamous Star Cycle. I phoned in my order because I wanted to hear up front that it was not in stock and how long it would be. I already knew there were none in stock anywhere so I was expecting that. Despite some reports here, I found them to be honest and up front about it, though they were a little optimistic on when they would be getting some in. They said 3 days from Muzzy to them and 10 days from them to me. Turned out it was about a week or a little more from Muzzy to them. On the day I called to check status they had just got some in from Muzzy. That was Tuesday of this week. Given the long weekend coming up, I elected to upgrade my shipping from ground to UPS 3-day so that I would get it today.
Before I upgraded my shipping from ground to 3-day, my total was $390 out the door which included the full system (silencer, mid-pipe, and header pipe), the spark arrester and quiet core insert, and also included ground shipping. I'm not sure how much the upgraded shipping was because my wife talked to them when they called back with the status and she's actually the one that upgraded my shipping - God I love her
The two part numbers you want are:
1014-00087--------Muzzy Full Exhaust
0045-00012--------Muzzy Quiet Insert/ USFS Spark Arrestor

NoBrakes,
That's cool, no doubt it's performing much better, it's just no where near the bike you rode outta the dealership. I found out about my pipe on thursday - it had shipped on wednesday. Also, Jim ordered a 45tooth instead of a 47tooth rear sprocket. Jim looked at the printout of why you (or Todd) drilled 3/8" on the crankcase vent and said he'd do it too with a greased up bit so as to not drop shavings in the case.
It is kinda cool to have some charts to see exactly how the performance specs have changed. Even though the numbers are small, the percentages are high.
I'd read all about Todd's mods & this bike prior to purchasing, so when I rode it the 1st time, I had faith and didn't go into remorse.
Jim said there's a couple manufacturers that have an oversize piston with a taller or dome like top making it a 2 in 1 upgrade, if we want to go there. Both compression & cc's with a piston & drill/hone the cyclinder. No need for milling the head or buying another head to jack the compression. I'm having fun with the bike so I'm in no hurry to do this but it's an option. I bet Todd has offered these options too, it's just that I've read so many threads, I'm just grateful that I enjoy the 250.
I'll get the charts to you as soon as I have them.
It's blowing today and one of Jim's mechanics (Art) is going with me since the www.gaastra.com rep is at Lake Ray Hubbard's FireAnt beach. Reps let you try out all the new equipment. Anyone in Dallas is welcome (east on i30 from Dallas, exit Zion rt on Zion, immediate Left on Locust which will take you straight to the beach) the rep "Cliff" will be there at noon.
Later,
Rustin
