Missed shifts
The KLX is a jewel. So much so that I posted my Rally for sale.
The only jewel-like things about the KLX in my opinion are the transmission for it's excellent shift feel, and the throttle tube, also for it's good feel.

Since you own a 100 horsepower naked bike, why are you riding a klx300?
"It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast then a fast bike slow."
There's also another aspect and that's the joy of riding. This is not so much the kind of bike, but is rather the experience of riding itself.
I remember the very first time I rode a motorcycle in 1965.
The experience then wasn't any different than it is today.
Heck, the joy of riding even includes bicycles.
There's an old saying...

You'll be much happier riding a bike you like instead of one you don't like.
I never rode a bike I didn't like.
Even though my DRZ400SM was a clumsy top heavy bike with an old outdated transmission with 5 poorly spaced ratios, nevertheless I rode it 35,000 happy miles.
That saying is beyond cliche at this point, but I'll say this: The experience of riding can be had on all types of bikes. And adding effortless torque and comfort like with a touring bike, adds to that equation. High speed stability that other bikes bring to the table, not being subject to wind gusts as much, adds to that equation too. Among other things, like passing power, good brakes (I have an S model), appealing engine/exhaust sound, nicer feeling controls, and so forth.

And it's not merely the experience of riding, it's the joy of riding. This is not nearly as much related to the type of bike being ridden as it is to the rider. I don't need a powerful bike to feel powerful because I express my power in other ways such as creating my own business and building my own house. So I'm ok with riding small underpowered bikes (and I've owned some REALLY wimpy ones!), because they ALL get me where I need to go, and the joy of riding is all the same.

It's a cliche because it's true.

My goodness, now having low horsepower is about being self-righteous...
You have a different riding style, or different needs, than many other riders do. Which is fine, because that's why there are tons of different bikes to choose from. But responding to the notion that some riders want some power by saying you don't need horsepower because you already "express your power" in other ways, is frankly preposterous. You can be in control of your life and enjoy more than 25 horsepower, at the same time.
