I think the cops are too busy looking at my 8 turn signals to notice I don't have reflectors anymore...

 

Speaking as someone who knows a few officers, they tell me as long as the tailight works, there's a light for the plate (and a plate as well) and working turn signals, they probably wouldn't give it a second look for reflectors.

 

And then some states don't even require turn signals on a motorcycle. deej would be heartbroken here in Texas.

 

Having removed the rear reflector, I have mounted my license plate with bolts that have a small reflector on their ends.....available at most cycle shops.

 

I ditched the heavy brackets and relocated mine. I still want them for safety at night. When I chop off the beaver tail I will relocate the rear just under the plate.

 

I belive that this says you tail light is enough of a reflector to pass by it self. But check with local law inforcement to see what they say. The reflector law is really one of those things that they will only cite you for if A( you are being a total douche bag, or b( some one claims they hit you because you didn't have any reflectors.

 

I was going to say that if you get pulled over because of the reflector you were going to get pulled over anyway.

 

I don't think getting pulled over would be the problem, I would think when it comes time to get inspected they might not pass you.

 

A long time ago a buddy and I were pulled over ( we were both on KLRs) I'm sure the cop thought he was nailing a couple guys for riding dirt bikes on the street. He walked up to us and (after he noticed the plates) asked for our license and registration. When he came back after running our info, and coming up with 2 clean records, he told us that if we didnt want a ticket we had better wipe the mud off of our license plates. The bikes were filthy but I think he was just being an *** because he had been mistaken about who he was pulling over. By the way neither of our bikes had street legal tires.

Jason the question had obviously been answered, nobody was arguing with a quote from the law book oakley posted. Looks to me like everyone after that was comparing notes on the laws in their area. I really don't think Neil was telling rlj that, since it was the law in AU, it was also the law in PA.
